Pt. Bezdan lies on the southern shore of the Island of Koločep where the sheer cliffs that are to be found in the north drop gradually, creating slopes and shallows; this dramatic transition is best seen beneath the lighthouse where the slope drops suddenly and sharply into the abyss, making it an interesting diving site with numerous passages, openings and smaller caves.
Diving tipsAnchoring is best on the sheltered side of the point. Descent is to a shipwreck and may continue on to the centre of the cove and a visit to the remains of The Aurora (16-19 m), a two-mast coaster found at a depth of 5 m, and an ideal decompression stop.
Marine lifePoint Bezdan is a good habitat for various species - Scyllarides latus squat lobsters, sea figs, sea squirts that feed on organic waste and plankton, as well as moss, and eggs of the Fasciolaria lignaria spindle snail. These waters also abound in blennies and gobies, two of the most frequent residents of this part of the Adriatic coast.
